I'm attending the Virtual Grassroots Fundraiser for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris tonight for several reasons. First, I am attending because I do not want Donald Trump to be President of the United States. Trump is an affront to everything I value and have worked for my entire life--he does not represent good values, good ideas, hard work, or care for the American people. He is a cheater and liar--a man who is lawless, disrespectful, hateful, irresponsible, and self-serving. He has taken our country down, down, down by wasting our money, time, potential, and sadly thousands and thousands of lives. He is a disgrace and a danger to all humanity.
Secondly, I want a woman in the White House. I really wanted a woman President, but now there's no woman on the ballot so I want a woman Vice President.
Third, Kamala Harris represents good values, hard work, and vision--she has not only talked the talk, but she's walked the walk of public service--difficult, challenging public service. She will be a formidable Vice President who represents woman, people of color, immigrants, and so many American ideals--I will be proud to have her as my Vice President.
Fourth, I believe that the Biden and Harris will work with a diverse team of best and brightest Americans. Rather than looking into the mirror for their prime source of inspiration like Trump does, Biden and Harris will honor those with solid experience, educations, knowledge, and ideas to lead us forward. Trump's revolving door of inexperienced, uncaring, and self-serving criminals, cronies, and family members has created countless disasters and lost potential throughout the United States. One prime example is that the rollbacks in environmental protections has cost us four years when it comes to good work to preserve the clean water, soil, and air we need for survival. Also, the fact that he put his inexperienced son-in-law in charge of COVID-19 policies and actions led to a tremendous disaster and countless pandemic-related limitations and losses. Trump's ignorance is illustrated in his inepititude when it comes to collaborating with intelligent, committed, experienced public servants which has resulted in both danger and disaster for good people everywhere.
I really enjoy good movies and television shows, but I don't equate good actors with good politics. I recognize that adding actors to the line-up is a way to draw greater attention to candidates, and I honor the fact that actors are willing to publicly support good candidates like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, but that's not the draw for me. I also believe that it's difficult to understand Hillary Clinton since she's been smeered so much by the Trump campaign and their heinous international and national supporters. Also, I think it's still difficult for many of us to get past the fact that she stayed by Clinton despite his infidelity, yet I voted for Hilary Clinton because I know she is very smart, committed, experienced, and hard working. I know she, like so many bright American woman, also suffer the history of prejudice that exists against intelligent women--a prejudice still sadly ingrained in much of American society sadly.
I will attend tonight's event with an open mind as well as enthusiasm about joining with many, many women and men in America who respect our country's good values while desiring that we reimagine those values to represent the modern world we live in, a world that knows more and faces new and ever changing challenges. I believe that we have to come together as a people to develop a strong country for our lives today and our lives into the future. We cannot continue to uphold the old time, outdated, backwards, and harmful myths, prejudices, and ideals that the Trump team continually haunts us with.
I hope you'll join me in lending your support by way of a few dollars and some time to support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our future President and Vice President. We must do better in the United States, and everyone needs to act to make that change happen.
