Donald Trump prides himself in the way he uses (abuses) financial institutions and public entities to prop up his image and access huge amounts of money. How does he do that?
He and his family members and business partners look for every possible loophole and seemingly lawless trickery to use loans, mortgages, and purchases to elevate their wealth. If you summed up his business, it is to abuse financial systems/opportunities to get richer.
How is this different from other business people? We know it's not different from all business people. We know Trump is not alone in the way he abuses financial systems to get what he wants--there are others that do this, but there are also others who don't abuse the systems with the gumption, lack of effort, or sick lack of concern for others that Trump displays.
One reason he gets away with this is that most people can't even imagine the kind of financial crimes he commits. When they skate on Wollman Rink--they think Trump's a generous man. They don't realize that what he made look like a public service, was actually a way for him to earn a yearly paycheck with little money down. If he were truly generous, he would give away the money he makes from that rink each year.
In one situation he actually makes money off of his own debt. Through some loophole, the money he pays towards a debt gets funneled by to him with interest. He is basically the fire sale President--the guy who looks for the holes in the system and places where people are unaware so that he can prop up his wealth and power. In some ways, he's like Bernie Madoff who cheated his friends to get rich via financial schemes.
Donald Trump's heinous financial actions and the ways he preys upon Americans as President of the United States is a wake-up call for fair taxation. It's a crime that so many wealthy folk get away with paying so little taxes while most middle class people pay through the nose. It's also a crime that people in the financial industry have such tremendous power and wealth because they spend their lives plaing the financial game to the detriment of services that all people need for good living, services like education, health care and environmental preservation.
I don't think that everyone has to make the same amount of money. I know that there will never be true equality since people are different and their choices are different, but I do believe that we can work towards fair share taxation where every American pays their fair share of taxes. I do think we can work against the many loopholes that make some very wealthy and leaving others without enough money for good, just living. And, I believe that we can better use our collective financial foundation in fair ways to promote good living, fair wages, and fair work conditions for all.
No one likes a cheater. We have a President of the United States that doesn't pay his fair share and works to cheat rather than lead. We need to elect Joe Biden who will work with a diverse team of best and brightest to elevate the lives of all Americans, not step on them as Trump and his team of corrupt family members and cronies do.
