I wish I didn't have to give money to political campaigns. I don't have a lot of extra dollars, but I do have a few since I'm older and I've paid my bills and taxes. I want to wake up on election day morning and hear that Biden and Harris have won that Presidential election and that the senate has flipped. Why is this so important?
This is important first because the Trump team has devastated our good country with their ignorance, irresponsibility, fear mongering, violence-inciting, self-serving actions. It's daily dread and destruction with the Trump team--they've obstructed the good work possible by rolling back environmental protections, leading with a team of cronies, family members, and crooks, and spending their days lying, manipulating, and mocking all of us as they laugh their way to the bank to celebrate their abuse of both people and our hard earned tax dollars.
All of us who pay taxes just supported Trump's extraordinary health care--we paid for his helicopter ride, his private doctors, his medical equipment at the hospital and White House, and his medicine. We paid for this while many of our fellow citizens were relegated to die at home or alone at hospitals and medical centers. I don't mind supporting the President's health, but I do mind supporting the Presidential team's irresponsible and ignorant pandemic efforts, efforts that have led to the loss of over 200,000 lives and many, many more livelihoods. Trump team incompetence has caused dramatic, painful changes to all of our lives, and they've done this smugly with no care for you or me.
It's time for change, and it's time to bring people in the country together to forward the following positive objectives.
- lessen pandemic pain, then eliminate this threat
- attend to the economy in ways that shore up quality health care, education, homes, nutrition, safety, and recreation.
- work with countries around the world to better the way we deal with worldwide environmental protections, immigration/migration, poverty, and disease.
- promote fair taxation, fair wages, and just working conditions
- find ways to unify the country
- work against racial inequity, prejudice, and hate
So today, I'll send a few more dollars to help the Biden-Harris team in an attempt to do my part to support a better USA, a USA devoid of the threat that the Trump team presents.
Once Biden and Harris are in office, I'll turn my attention to one or two important local initiatives.
We need change and we need it now.
