As I considered Trump words and actions, it appears that he makes decisions based on three main questions:
- Will I profit?
- Will I look good?
- Will I feel good?
As I considered this, I thought about the decision making process I would hope a President and others would embrace, a decision making process based on the following questions:
- What is our collective vision for the country?
- What are the priorities with regard to this vision?
- Who are the best and brightest experts that can lead the efforts related to these priorities?
- How will we evaluate our work, then revisit, review, and revise as needed to meet our goals?
- How will we listen and hear what the people have to say, and how will we respond to fulfill the people's needs for good living, opportunity, health, education, and happiness?
- What will our communication strategies be so that people are well-informed about the truth of the matter?
- How will we work with good countries and leaders around the world to mitigate and solve the problems we all share, problems related to migration/immigration, environmental concerns, and poverty?
- What will be our routines for leading, communication, assessment, and vision-making/obtaining?
A President who is wholly self-focused like Trump is a danger and disaster for our country. Trump has proved this true because after four years he has made a mess of the USA--life as we know it and love it has been dramatically changed due to his self-serving ignorance, incomptence, and failure.
Yet, a President alone cannot do the good work needed to make our country great for all--everyone has to do their part, and everyone has to think about more than just themselves with regard to how to do this.
For myself, my decision making process includes these questions:
- Am I taking good enough care of myself so that I can live a good, responsible, and respectful life for myself and others.
- What do I need to do to care for myself, my family, and other loved ones?
- What contributions can I make to the greater good?
- Where might I be able to change my lifestyle so that I'm not taking more than my share or adding burden to others?
- What common, positive supports can I work for to help elevate the lives of others and communities near and far?
- How should I revise my lifestyle to meet new protocols, realities of living in a modern world?
- In what ways can I be self sufficient and have some good times too?
Trump is an unqualified disaster as President of the United States. That's been clear. Anyone who has done any research about his bogus efforts, untruthful speak, and self-serving perspective knows that.
It is clearly time for change, clearly time to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as a first step to recovery from Trump's heinous leadership. Onward.
