Yes, my work as an educator was imperfect. The truth is that everyone's work is imperfect--we are all works in progress, a mix of hits and misses, gains and losses. So how do we reckon with this imperfection--what do we do?
Know your vision
Make time to create vision based on the truths you know and the work you feel called to do. Your vision will be rightly directed if it includes good research, a will do to well for self and others, and a reflective process that finds you reviewing your vision and updating as needed.
Make a plan
Work backwards and make a plan to attaining your vision. Reflect upon your plan and revise as needed.
Work with others
Generally it's best not work alone only. There will be various equations of independent work and collaborative work as you reach for your vision, and that's okay, but some collaboration is needed to reach for that vision.
Seek the help you need
To be strong is to recognize that you'll need help to reach your vision. Don't be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.
Expect imperfection
Your journey won't be perfect. You won't always hit the mark. There will be painful episodes, but if you always do your best, listen to others, continue to work for betterment, there will be more wins than losses.
