President Trump: Laughing Stock

President Trump sadly is the laughing stock of the country, perhaps the world.

His persistent, ridiculous self serving behaviors put him front and center as a clown.

He has created a circus out of our good country, the United States.

This laughing stock with his heavy make-up, dyed hair, and daily drama is also a danger--a danger to himself and a danger to others.

To have a President that is both a laughing stock and a danger is a heavy burden for the American people, a heavy burden that presents us with daily frustration, conflict, struggle and trouble. Most of all, what troubles me about Trump is that his me-first theatrics take valuable time and energy away from all the good possible.

For four years now it's been the Trump Show--a White House Reality Show meant to excite and astound in effort to achieve a cult-like following, but instead this show has created tremendous conflict and divide in our country while leaving many, many jobs undone.

Rather than lead as a responsible, intelligent, creative, and collaborative leader, Trump has persistently been a showman, a Harold Hill of modern days--a man who wills to trick and manipulate rather than serve and lead.

For some, Trump is a hero of the everyday man--they love his theater, theater that has brought people together to demean others, praise local heroes, and share in Trump's false narrative. Much like the Wizard of Oz, he's the old man behind a curtain directing his reality show to wow and frighten people.

For many more others, Trump is an affront to the hard work they've done all their lives, the professions they've commited to, the values they work for and represent, and the hopes they have for the United States of America.

Rather than preserve our amazing natural resources, he and his team roll back environmental protections leaving us at risk of little to no clean water, clean soil, and clean air.

Rather than support quality, accessible health care and education for all, he neglects those basic rights and needs.

Rather than elevating opportunity for safe, positive homes and neighborhoods for all Americans, he works to uplift the privilege and power of a few wealthy folk and ignores sensible gun laws and other actions that will uplift neighborhoods and promote good living for all.

Rather than telling the truth and leading with honesty, he lies persistently. This lack of transparency feeds conspiracy theories and divides in the country.

He also leans towards working with dictators with human rights violations rather than working with the world's good leaders to forward worldwide positive policies related to immigration, environmental protections, eradication of poverty, and elevating world health initiatives.

Trump's administrative team and consultants include many crooks, criminals, and self-serving family members. His daughter and son-in-law have used their positions in the White House to gain extensive personal wealth rather than commit to the welfare of the American people. Many of his cronies do not have any investment in what is right and good for the USA, and instead, like his daughter and son-in-law, have used their positions to prop themselves up, and to steal, cheat, lie, and take care of themselves rather than do the good work of taking care of the American people.

Some have seen a rise in retirement account balances, and while I imagine their joy in this, the truth is that the rises are relatively small, and will soon be lost due to Trump's neglect of health care, fair taxation, safe communities, good nutrition, quality education, and clean soil, water, and air. President Trump is a quick-fix President who wants to look good, but has no care about the long term ramifications of his actions. He has taken the United States back many, many years via his neglect of the less glitzy, but more important issues of environmental protection, nutritious foods, quality education, and quality health care. He's turned a blind eye to the complex issues of our times choosing instead to simply try to elevate the wealth of the rich. Like his "Big Lie" theory which means the more you tell a lie, the more people will believe it--he leads with a "Look Good" philosophy which is similar to maxing out all your credit cards to look good, but underneath it all you've accumulated a huge, oppressive debt. Trump will leave us with a hefty four-year debt of neglect. We'll be left to pick up the pieces, but a four-year debt is a lot less dangerous than an eight-year debt, and that's why we have to elect Joe Biden--the country can't withstand another four years of the superficial, self-serving, ignorant, and irresponsible Trump White House Reality Show--we need a diverse, dedicated, intelligent, experienced and responsible leadership team, not a band of crooks, cronies, and showmen.

Trump is a laughing stock. Last night, we watched him attempt to give a show of strength as he carefully climbed the steps of the White House, stood straight and struggled to breathe. We saw him make a second try to appear macho in the face of a grave illness--he was trying to tell the country that he was above the illness--he could beat it. I think he will beat it, but I don't think it would be easy. For me, it would have been a lot better, if he had compassionately spoke to the American people via tweets or his own words to say how awful the virus is and how he wants everyone to take it seriously and do what they can to keep people safe and well.

A laughing stock is great for a comedy show, not President of the United States. Trump clearly prefers theater and pleasure to true leadership. We need a leader in the White House, a leader who will choose a diverse team of best and brightest that work for the welfare of ALL of America's people.
