I have a pile of tasks I've procrastinated with. Today I'll tackle that pike--yuk!
The truth is that I sometimes agree to do things that I really shouldn't agree to do. Generally when I procrastinate, the task is something I simply don't like to do, and if I pay attention to that pile it helps me to know what to choose in the future and what not to choose.
As a person who recently left my 34-year career as an educator, I'm definitely forging new paths and figuring out what it is I want to do and what I don't want to do. I realize that sometimes I say yes, to be nice, but the reality is that when you simply say yes to be nice, you often resent and procrastinate with those tasks--there are ways to be nice that are invigorating, ways you are eager to complete. Those are the kinds of events you should embrace when it comes to helping others.
There are also items on the procrastination pile that are simply necessary, dull, and bothersome tasks--tasks that remind me of my age, health, and life's challenges. It's easy to procrastinate on tasks that remind you of life's less positive sides, but these are tasks that simply have to be done--tasks that spell better health and better living if done.
In general, if you plan life well, you can live a life that includes mostly tasks you are eager to do--tasks that don't end up on a procrastination pile. For me, that's the goal.
