Life leads us ahead step-by-step. We relish the outcomes of good decisions, positive relationships, and awesome experiences. The best of these choices give, give, give to us. For example, the light that flows through my house each day makes me so happy about where our house is placed on the land. The light truly fills our house with warmth in so many ways--a gift that keeps on giving.
As we put one step in front of the other, we must take the time to think about the value of those steps forward--what works well, and what doesn't work so well, then we have to leave the steps of discontent and poor living behind while repeating the steps of promise and positivity again and again.
Most of us know that amongst those steps of promise and positivity are good relationships, beautiful natural settings, positive life-enriching events, contribution to others, and grace, and amongst the steps we need to leave behind are poor nutrition, life-halting events, predatory relationships, polluted places, unhealthy lifestyles, and sources of prejudce and bigotry.
This week the United States has the chance to make a giant leap forward with the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris--we have the chance to uplift our lives for the better leaving behind the Trump team's bigoted, hateful, manipulative, neglectful, and self-serving ways, ways that have divided our country and taken us backwards with regard to good living for ourselves and others.
So as I go about my chores and pleasures today, I want to think about the steps I'll leave behind and the steps I'll embrace as I will to move forward on this life journey in ways that truly enrich my life and the lives of others--positive steps of good living. Onward.
