I just love some songs and music. I am always singing when I am doing my work, and sometimes, the people around me don't really like that, but the music keeps me moving in positive directions. As I listen to countless songs and musical pieces, I am always curious about why some music speaks to you and other music does not. For example, there is a very popular musical vocalist that I just can't listen to for the most part--her songs and music don't speak to me, yet a lot of the music that does speak to me doesn't speak to others. That's just the way it is.
But why does some music resonate in you while other music is uninteresting at best?
The answer to this, in part, may be the words, but it's much more than the words--it's as if certain tunes speak to your DNA, experiences, the way your brain works, and how your body moves.
I think we're very fortunate today that we can listen to all kinds of music via the Internet, phones, and other devices. I love to explore music, and I certainly have my favorites.
Why do you think different kinds of music speaks to us? What parts of our bodies, lives, minds does music awaken, and does our favorite music not only speak to us, but speak to our entire lines of human history?
I'll likely read up on this someday, but if you have any ideas about this, please share.
