A country divided?

I would like to push back on the country-divided narrative that is happening throughout the media. Yes, voting shows that there was a divide with regard to who to vote for, but remember there were two main candidates, there was going to be a divide of some kind. But yes, I do notice that there were many who voted for each of the main candidates, but I would like to propose that the election divide does not fully represent who we are as Americans because we have a lot of common ground.

Environment

I bet if you queried Americans about the need to protect our beautiful lands and wonderful natural resources, almost all Americans would agree. In fact, I believe there is a small percentage of Americans who will their individual greed over the protection of our natural environment. I believe this is a great common ground that we share.

Family

A believe that most Americans value family. I believe most Americans want to ensure their loved one's safety and prosperity.

A Good Time

I believe most Americans like to have a good time. Now, of course, those good times will differ, but nonetheless, we share the common experience of a good time.

Prosperity

I believe most Americans want to prosper in order to take care of themselves and their loved ones. Of course, some are more concerned with their financial wealth than others, but most desire at least a livable wage and probably more in order to live well.

Health

I believe most Americans value the ability to live healthy lives and desire healthy lives for their loved ones too.

While, yes, the election votes demonstrate a divide, I believe we have much more common ground as Americans, than divide, and that's a good place to start as we embark on President-elect Biden's term--a term of respectful, collaborative efforts to build our country together rather than dismantle it.
