Don't let daily upheaval upset your focus

As I look ahead, read social media feeds, and listen to pundits, I am aware that there are many vying for our attention, dollars, energy, and time. When you look a little deeper, you notice that some are ego-oriented while others, I believe, truly do will betterment for our country. We have to be discerning about where we gift our time, energy, and dollars.

We also have to understand our own focus--where are we headed as individuals and as a people? What can you do to uplift your own life and the lives of others?

For me, I have to focus on my personal needs to get healthy, learn more, and strengthen my understanding and resolve related to my overall focus which is to uplift opportunity and good living for all. I'm sick of the inequity that exists. I'm tired of hard working people who don't make a liveable wage. I'm disgusted by businesses and organizations that take advantage of people for their own gain and fame. I want EVERY American to have the opportunity for good living, and for that to happen, we have to support a livable wage for all, just working conditions, environmental protections, healthy recreation, optimal education and health care, fair taxation, bridging the wage gap, lessening the debilitating deficit, and recognizing our need to rid our country of systematic racism and prejudice of all kinds.

We have to be wary of pundits, news reports, and single organizations. Many are good, truthful, and well-meaning, but others are solely focused on ratings and profit. We have to support laws that make sure that businesses work with good ethics and aim--not the kind of focus that diminishes individuals' and communities' rights, privileges, and opportunities.

Most of us, with thought, know what we can do to contribute--we need to follow our individual paths in order to contribute in ways that matter to our own lives and the lives of others in positive ways. We can't get overly distracted by too many groups as this will dilute what we can do. Great potential exists, and we can work hard to make that potential a reality. Onward.
