If nothing else, this Thanksgiving will teach me to be more flexible. In all aspects of my life, the holiday week keeps changing. That's to be expected with both the fear and reality of the pandemic staring us in the face. No one wants to get sick. Everyone wants to stay healthy.
I've decided to just go with it. I agree with the experts who say that it's better to sacrifice some of the fun and camaraderie this year so we can enjoy more traditional Thanksgivings in the years to come. So that means I'll continue my theme of creating a warm and welcoming home for the loved ones who are here and planning to take part in some outdoor hikes with those who we won't be joining inside. It's a good plan.
Thankfully the Trumps are beginning to fade with regard to social media and any hopes of staying in power--that adds some light to the situation, and it also appears that a vaccine is on the horizon which lends even more hope. This occurrences are positive for the United States.
The sparkle of Christmas is right around the corner too, and I'll use that holiday as a chance to brighten up our surroundings, mail a few gifts, write a few cards, and welcome a few family members home. It's a hunker down time of the year.
