What kinds of gifts are you buying or making for the holidays?
As I look over online gift pages and shop in nearby stores, nothing excites me. Items seem overpriced and uninteresting. So how will I show my love and care over the holidays?
A Promised Land
My husband and I are gifting ourselves Barack Obama's new book, A Promised Land. We're both looking forward to the read as we honor and value Obama's intelligence, experience, service, and example.
Photo Books
I've been reviewing lots and lots of photos and will make some of my loved ones photo books.
Baked Goods
I'll likely bake some sweets for some of my loved ones.
Purchases
I continue to be on the look out for special gifts that match who my loved ones are--I've found a few interesting items.
Experience Boxes
For some, I plan to create theme boxes that inspire and support specific experiences such as a weekend in a beautiful place, an adventure, a hobby, or celebration.
Heirloom Gifts
I may create gifts with some long loved items that I want to pass on so others can enjoy those items.
Pandemic Survival Gifts
I'll also give gifts that will help people survive the pandemic winter--gifts that give people something fun to do.
Money or Gift Cards
For some, we'll give monetary gifts or gift cards so they can purchase something for themselves.
Election Donations
I donated a few dollars to the Democrats running for the Senate in Georgia as I know that's money well spent since to have more Democrats in the Senate will be a gift that keeps on giving with more action related to fair wages, just working conditions, better education and health care, and protection of our natural lands and resources.
Like many, we won't spend a lot this holiday season, but we'll use creativity and sensitivity to create or purchase gifts that will demonstrate our care and gratitude to those we love.
