What is a domestic terrorist?
Is the Trump team a team of domestic terrorists?
I believe that the Trump team's will to spread misinformation related to the Presidential election makes them a terrorist team because this misinformation targets our good government in dangerous and destructive ways. And while, we have not seen overt acts of force or violence, the words spread by this team have actually resulted in massacre and murder in El Paso, Kenosha, and Charlottesville. We are only know beginning to understand the threat of terrorism related to social media and misinformation campaigns. Prior to the popularity of easily accessible and easily utilized social media, misinformation did not have the frightening consequences now possible. I love social media and do believe it is the true democratization of information, but with that positivity also comes potential problems as the Trump team so easily demonstrates.
What do we know?
- Election reports across all states demonstrate no evidence of any great fraud or illegal activity related to voting.
- The Trump team's legal challenges to the vote are illogical and lack any factual basis.
- This misinformation sows doubt, conspiracy theories.
- The legal battles slow down the transition process--a process that is vital for a positive transfer of power.
- Trump team is firing a lot of important leaders in many areas of government which creates confusion and potential weakness at a time of power transfer.
- Trump team's misinformation campaigns related to the virus served to spread the virus more resulting in great death, illness, and economic struggle. A Cornell University study proved the fact that Trump team misinformation was the greatest spreader of the virus in the United States.
How can we act?
Fortunately we have a worthy, intelligent, good President-elect and Vice President-elect who desire to serve ALL of the American people. Clearly both Biden and Harris are focused on the general health and well being of Americans rather than their own personal ambition alone. This is good news.
Also, with Biden and Harris, will come a diverse team of America's best and brightest as well as the restoration of practices that help to keep our country strong and prosperous.
Further, the large majority of the American people are good people who desire a healthy, happy country where they can take care of their loved ones, earn a fair wage, enjoy the beautiful lands and resources, and engage in their passions and interests. Most people are good people everywhere. Most people don't desire a country challenged by hardship, prejudice, crime, and hate.
This is all good.
What we have to figure out is how to deal with a #trumpteam of bad actors--people willing to neglect the needs of the country to prop up their own wealth, privilege, power, and pocketbook. These are heinous self-serving people. If you doubt me, begin to look at their track records, then you will see I am right.
Most of the Trump supporters take care of themselves. While people in their companies, jurisdictions, and organizations suffer, they gain greater wealth and privilege. Sadly, many of those who stood up for Trump during the impeachment process lead in states with great poverty, poor health care, shoddy environmental protections, and the worst schools. Clearly, they don't care about the American people, but instead, take care of themselves first.
Is the Trump team a terrorist team.
I believe that they are because I believe they are targeting the lives, health, and welfare of the American people for their own fame/gain alone. This is dangerous, and the question remains, how will we deal with this to protect our country's government, laws, and the welfare of the people.
Trump took an oath to serve the American people, but instead, he serves only himself as evidenced by the devastating death toll due to a pandemic he ignored while, instead, seeking dirt on his opponents and propping up his own power. This is despicable, dangerous, and destructive.
