Lunch with Mom and Dad

I've been recording my Mom and Dad visits for a number of years now. It has been interesting to me to see how our relationship has changed over the past ten years as we age. For a long time, I've enjoyed hosting my parents at my home on Sundays--it was a treasured tradition, but lately due to a number of factors, that tradition has morphed to visits to their home instead. What does that include?

Prepare a nice table

A nice table makes the dinner much more enjoyable. Finding the right table cloth, dishes, centerpiece and set-up creates a warm, welcoming ambiance.

Delicious, nutritious foods

My mom made our family a delicious, nutritious dinner every night of my childhood. It was a staple to sit at the kitchen table together each night to enjoy those good foods. It's amazing to see the joy and happiness a delicious, nutritious meal brings to a family.

Dessert

As children, for better or worse, we always ended our family meal with dessert. Typically Mom made all kinds of delicious desserts. So my meals at my parents' house always include the dessert.

Happy, positive conversation

It's time to exchange stories of past and present events.

Relish the moments

As I've noticed with the potential end to Sunday dinners with mom and dad at my house, these Sunday dinners will someday come to an end. That's why it is so important to relish these moments while they exist. Onward.
