It seems like each holiday is a milestone during pandemic 2020. In March, I began to plan for Easter. Then the Fourth of July and the family reunion. After that August birthday celebrations, back to school, Halloween, and now Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Every holiday has been impacted by pandemic limitations and precautions--every holiday has been different than the past.
Now as I prepare for the intimate celebrations ahead, I'm also thinking about the bigger and potentially more traditional spring/summer/fall gatherings in 2021. I want to celebrate this year with an eye on next year too.
What will we do?
Rethink the kitchen
Today I'll reorganize the kitchen to accommodate upcoming mostly stay-at-home holidays and holidays in the future. I'll get rid of things we don't use, and reposition the items we use the most. I want the close family members who will spend the holiday with us to be able to easily access what they need.
Organize the boys' bedrooms
One "new" holiday activity we'll do is a review of the clothes that exist in this house--I suspect that many items no longer fit people or are not interesting to them anymore. We'll give away anything of quality and organize the rest. I'll also reorganize the book shelves and get the beds ready for comfortable sleeps.
Prepping the dinner
I'll begin the food and table prep for next Thursday's intimate celebration that only includes our most intimate family members.
Organizing the holiday decorations
I'll reorganize the holiday decorations and give away many no-longer-needed decorations to those who may want to brighten up their homes and apartments during this pandemic season when light will be more important than ever.
Family saunteers
We'll plan a number of outdoor walks together to celebrate and enjoy the natural beauty all around us.
