We still don't have a Presidential winner, but we do know that both Joe Biden and Donald Trump got a lot of votes. I had hoped for an early win for Joe Biden even though I knew it would take time for all ballots to be counted, but as the votes rolled in, we found that there is no early winner, but as one reporter called it, a razor thin race instead. As many stated throughout the days leading up to the election, this is an election where every vote counts.
I will remain patient as we move towards a decision in the coming days. As I think about what has happened, I have made a few decisions about the days ahead including the following:
- I'll take a break from the Trumpians in my midst for a while--I'll not visit their businesses, engage in conversations, or seek out their company. I need a break from all things Trump.
- I'll also continue to look to the experts, not Trumpians, with regard to the pandemic. I'll stay aware of what is going on, and work to be as safe as possible.
- I'll continue to support what I value via my actions, and I will expect more responsibility on behalf of those who benefit from the hard work of so many. In some ways, I feel like many hard working public servants go way beyond the call of duty, and now I think it's time for those public servants to think about this. While it's good to help others, it's not good to allow yourself to be used and abused by those who may profit from your hard work, but not do their part. I will think more on this, and write more about it in the days to come.
I will also focus on the positivity that is present all around me including family events, getting outside in nature, treasured hobbies, great films/stories, and more.
No matter who wins, I hold my position that Trump is a sinking ship, and to sail with him is to add to the malice he spreads. He proved that again today with his pathetic early morning response to initial election results. We can do better as a country, and I so hope that we'll be celebrating President Biden soon. If not, I'll continue to work for the potential we hold as a people in ways that I am able. Onward.
