Readying the home for Thanksgiving

Our Thanksgiving plans continue to change. I'm okay with that because everyone is trying to do what's best during this pandemic-time Thanksgiving.

With that in mind, I'll make the plans for an intimate Thanksgiving flexible, and prepare for that. What does that mean?

Safety

We're keeping our connections close so we don't get sick. We're also following all the public health precautions with mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. We're also asking those celebrating with us to get tested prior to returning home. We'll skip the hugs and close contact for the most part too.

Clean the house

First, we'll clean up the house to prepare for those that come. We only expect a few people as our large family has split up into lots of smaller, more intimate Thanksgiving celebrations. We'll clean up the bedrooms for our sons' return and make sure the den is warm and cozy as we'll likely enjoy movies and sports games.

Purchase the food

I'll purchase the food next week, and fill the cabinets with lots of foods that we can prepare for our loved ones.

Cooking

I'll likely prepare breads and cookies prior to the event and cook the meal's main ingredients on Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Hike and Yard Games

We'll plan an early day Thanksgiving hike. I also have some fun yard games we may engage in if the weather permits.

Later Day Dinner

We typically have an early dinner, but this time, we'll likely eat later in the day.

Family Games

We'll probably play games, watch films, and share stories.
