While we often think in terms of acting when it comes to doing the right thing. Sometimes what is right is to stand back and not act.
I was reminded of this recently with regard to a number of situations where it was simply best for me to stand back and wait until someone reaches out to me for support should they need it.
Most moms understand this truth. It is often in our children's best interest to live their lives without our consult or direction. That's how they figure out who they are, what they want, and where they are going. When we interfere too much, they don't get that opportunity and are the weaker for it.
If we stand back, build our capacity, and be ready and waiting to help when called, we do our children well.
Recently, President Trump used these words with regard to White Supremacy groups. Sadly, his intention appeared to ask them stand back and stand by to do his dirty work, work that likely did not involve helping people, but instead, working against what is good and right for people.
So as you stand back and build your capacity to help out when needed, make sure you are building promising, positive capacity to uplift lives, not the kind of capacity that obstructs, harms, and ends good living.
Onward.
