I thought about the fact that we must take our longings, quests, desires, passions, and gifts seriously this morning. This thought rang true as I recognized that the happiest moments in my life have been moments I longed for from my earliest days, and moments that occurred because I did take my longings, quests, desires, passions, and gifts seriously.
As a young child my greatest desire was to be a wife, mother, and teacher, and today my greatest satisfaction has been due to those roles. Now, I'm working on my fourth greatest passion which was to create a warm, welcoming home. I've had a home for some time, but I've been so busy, I haven't been able to work at that aspect of living as much, so that's my aim now. I also want people to be able to live their best lives no matter where they live, what they have, who they are, and the challenges and opportunities that they both endure and enjoy. I want to work for that in my life as well, and I want to protect and nurture the good that exists in our lands, water, air, and camaraderie as a people.
We are all inspired to live, act, and contribute in various ways, we must take our deep desires, gifts, passions, longing, and quests seriously in order to achieve the best of whom we might be. Onward.
