This election has been worrisome in so many ways--it is difficult to wait so long to find out the final results. For me, this is a particularly excrutiating wait since Trump is a complete affront to all that I value, all that I believe in, and all that I have worked for throughout my life.
Trump's constant barage of hate, the way he incites violence and murder, and his disrespect for almost everybody has been abusive day in and day out throughout his Presidency. He clearly has focused on self-serving manipulation and marketing rather than doing the hard work of leading this country. He has not lived up to the Presidential Oath which is a promise to stay faithful to the The United States Constitution.
Trump is a cancer that has eroded our country's good living and potential in countless ways. He has sowed divide via his lies, hateful statements, and bogus promises. And now, towards the end of the vote, he continues to lie and create malice for our country.
Last night when he spoke, I felt sick to my stomach. Contrarily, when Joe Biden spoke I felt a huge wave of relief and even cried a bit since I have hungered for good leadership in the United States since Trump's first day in office. I was willing to give Trump a chance, but when he started a litany of self-serving lies on day one when speaking to the CIA, I knew we were in trouble.
In my opinion, many Trump followers have been tricked by his ability to manipulate and lie. Many of these people were attracted to Trump's big personna and the way he appeared to value who they are and what they do. When you compare those people's lives and the way Trump lives, there is little similarity. Most of Trump's followers are everyday people living their lives, caring for their families, and doing what they believe is right and good. Trump, on the other hand, spends most of his life cheating others--he doesn't invest the time to do the hard work, research the issues, collaborate with the experts, and lead our country for the long term. He spends most of his time on the game of self-serving mainpulation to profit himself and his family. Of course, there are a number of Trump cronies, who like him, are users and abusers. These wealthy backers of Trump's hate, lies, and abuse, work for their own gain and fame alone. They, like Trump, could care less about most people.
Trump has not inspired the best of our youth. He has not worked for optimal health care and education. He has not protected our lands, or made wise financial choices. Instead, he's used the hard earned dollars of taxpayers to elevate profits at his fancy clubs and live a wealthy, privileged life for the past four years. He has challenged good relationships with our allies and kowtowed to heinous dictators. Further, he worked with a team of crooks, criminals, family members, and cronies rather than choosing a diverse team of best and brightest to lead our country ahead.
Trump has not stood up for the country we can be--a country of good people working for our own good lives and the good lives of others. There's nothing worse to me than a person who wills their power at the expense of the good living and potential of the people they lead. This kind of wasteful, self-serving, harmful leadership is an affront to all of us.
So, like many, I can't wait until Trump steps down from the Presidency. It looks like this will happen, but we don't know for sure yet. Then, during his last month-and-a-half, he should mostly be carefully watched so that he doesn't cause any terrible danger. At first, I thought he should step down, but I was reminded that Pence could pardon him of his crimes, and I do not believe that should happen since I do believe he should pay the price for his crimes including his heinous tax evasion.
