I'm a goal-oriented individual. I like the way a good goal pushes you forward and brings life meaning and adventure. I set goals, reflect, and revise continuously. If you read my blog, you know that. You might also think that I spend a lot of time thinking aloud via writing and speaking about my goals, and that's true too. Though a bit obsessive, the good results over time prompt me to continue this cycle because it works.
So as I think about the New Year ahead, I'm thinking about my main goals and pursuits.
Cooking and baking
Now that I have more time, I have really enjoyed cooking and baking. There's a lot to learn about cooking and baking well, and I love the learning process. So, in the year ahead, I'll continue this pursuit with a focus on healthy, delicious, mostly plant-based cooking and baking with as many homegrown and local foods as possible.
Creativity Studio
I am fortunate to have a nice collection of creativity supplies such as paper, nice pens, a computer, and a phone. I want to organize and possibly update these supplies in order to organize my composition studio--a flexible space that supports creative composition including writing, drawing, filming, photographing, and crafting. I'm not sure where this will take me, but I'm intrinsically motivated to create in these ways.
Reading
I have lots of great books waiting for me to read. Most of the books have been recommended by people I admire. I want to set aside time regularly to read--I love what reading a good book does for living a good life and nurturing strong relationships.
Nature
I do love getting outdoors and examining natural and human-made spaces. I want to include more walking in my routine and when I walk I want to explore interesting spaces.
Relationships
I truly enjoy my family/friend relationships and want to nurture those relationships in healthy, positive, enriching ways.
Service
I want to spend some time in service to others. I will begin by serving people close to me that I can help, and work out from there.
2021, like all years, will be a year of positivity and challenge. I never look forward to the great challenges that life presents, but I'm aware that those will exist in the year ahead, and we'll do what we can to meet those challenges with positivity, care, love, and smart, empathetic, and compassionate choices. There will also be positivity in the year ahead, and hopefully part of that positivity will include working towards positive goals and pursuits for ourselves, and also supporting our loved ones' goals and pursuits.
The first step is to list those goals and pursuits, and the next step is to make that work part of your daily routine. Then, get begin the work. Onward.
