Sometimes I think that we underestimate the strength of a happy home. After completing a number of chores yesterday, I noticed that everyone was a bit happier here at home. That led me to want to do more to make this a happy home for the holidays.
I remember that years ago when everyone in my house was disgruntled, I googled, "What makes a happy home," and up came some very simple measures such as cleaning up your house, baking something that smells good, and getting enough rest.
Happy homes don't have to be fancy homes. Instead happy homes are homes where people can be who they are with comfort and peace--places that are simple to care for with healthy food and activity. I'd like to see our country focus on happy homes and happy families as a priority. I'd like to see the country support policies and initiaitves that support what people need to build happy families and homes. To me initial steps in that direction include fair wages, fair work conditions, reasonable schedules that leave time for family and home, and supports for home fix-up efforts that help to make homes safe and comfortable.
This would be a good direction for our country and for each of our lives.
