Expertise matters

During the past four years while Trump demeaned hard working, good people in almost every corner of life, I felt despair. I know that a strong country depends on the good, dedicated work of all no matter what place in life they manage. We need all kinds of people to build a strong country and live good lives. And when a leader, puts himself and his cronies over the needs and opportunities of our diverse people, we have a big problem.

It is in the best interest of all of us to help each other develop our expertise and ability to live good lives in countless ways. For example, this week I had an unusual string of bothersome, tiring, and worrisome health events. Each event was distinct, and thanks to the expertise of a four different medical personnel, I was able to remedy each issue--issues I didn't know enough about myself to cure. I am so grateful for their expertise.

When you stop to consider all the people around you that make your good life possible everyday, it is amazing. There are many who care for and lead your communities, teach in local schools, colleges, and universities, stock the shelves and man the cash registers at the grocery stories, share the music via the radio and more--a strong country depends on our varied expertise and commitment to the jobs and lives we choose. Respect and support for that work makes us all stronger and better.

As I think about life's direction, I'm thinking about how I can build my own expertise and good living while supporting what others can be and do too. How can I move forward in ways that matter--this is the kind of questioning that helps us to be our best selves and our best nation. Onward.
