Good times bring us together and give us memories that last a lifetime. If we allow ourselves to prepare for good times with hard work, attention to our individual and collective pursuits, and some savings, good times are so appreciated.
Last night on Christmas Eve, we had a good time. We had some special foods, went for a beautiful hike, made time fro conversation, and exchanged a few gifts. Though much smaller in numbers, it was special nonetheless.
Today will be another special day with more good food, ZOOM get togethers, and a family chess tournament.
What good times will I prepare for, save for, and enjoy in the year to come?
Birthdays
I think it is important to recognize the birthday of those closest to you in special ways. Everyone likes to have a bit of special attention, and with COVID still present, those celebrations will likely be intimate and special dinners at home.
Wedding
We have a family wedding coming up, one that was postponed from last year. We will want to put the bride and groom center stage and contribute to and enjoy their special day.
Holidays
President-elect Biden's Inauguration: I'll watch this on TV.
MLK Day is typically a day of service, and I'll be thinking about how I might participate.
On Valentine's Day, I'll recognize in quiet, special ways.
St. Patrick's Day will likely find me cooking an Irish meal for my family.
Memorial Day and The Fourth of July will include outdoor picnics or cook-outs of some kind.
Labor Day will hopefully find us bringing one son back to college and exploring new or favored areas.
Indigenous People's Day: This will likely find us doing something outdoors
Thanksgiving: Hopefully we'll gather our loved ones around the table for a day of thanks and cheer.
Christmas and New Year's Day: Hopefully we'll be able to celebrate with many family members for festive gatherings.
Vacations
Vacations are on hold right now as we wait to get vaccinated and still work to stay safe in the face of the pandemic.
