Preparing for your next position

I'm beginning to prepare myself for my next position in life. After teaching for 34-years, it's time to ready myself for my next job. What will that be?

When I first retired, I spent considerable time thinking and dreaming about the past 34-years--what went well and what could have been better? Since then I've highlighted a number of areas where I need to beef up my skills and abilities before applying for my next position. Now I'm finding leaders, teachers, and colleagues to help me learn more and better as I ready myself for this next quest. I love to learn so to have this time to improve who I am and what I can do is a privilege.

This next position is beginning to take shape in my mind. It's likely not a glamorous position, but instead a quiet, child-centered position where I can use my skills to serve children in significant ways. That's what I like to do, and that is what I can do well in the right environment.

In the meantime while I learn, I'll also continue to catch up with the household jobs and chores that I have been working on since retirement. My goal to simplify the house has met with a lot of success, and my goal to be more present for family members has also been successful. This is good, and there is a bit more work to do in this regard.

My dad has always said, "A little for today and a little for tomorrow." I'll continue to heed his wise words as I ready for the next position. Onward.
