Saving for the good times

It is always difficult to save for a good time since you wonder if that good time is worth it or will arrive. What if something changes, and the event or object you saved for becomes impossible? What if you miss the good times available right now because you are saving for that future event? Yet, my experience has demonstrated that it's worth saving for a really good time or object now and then as those extra-special objects or experiences are worth it.

Of course, it is a balance of living today and saving for tomorrow. Some who focus only on saving sometimes miss the opportunities that exist every day for good living, and some who never have the disciplines to plan ahead and save, miss out on some of those extraordinary experiences that demand long-term saving and planning. Most people strike a balance between those extremes.

Sometimes I'm faulted for planning too much, but as I explained to one of my children, people in our income bracket have to plan ahead to afford some of life's special events--that's the way it is. Onward.
