The holidays were festive and fun. Our plans to make the best of a pandemic holiday season with many limitations worked, and we were able to have a cheerful, spirited, intimate gathering at home with outreach to family members and friends we usually see in person via the computer. So far, there's been no COVID spread, and hopefully that will continue as we followed guidelines related to safety including wearing masks, intimate gatherings, good hygiene, and physical distancing.
Now it's time to get back to a routine, and after a wonderful holiday, I'm ready for the routine again. As I think about a year in total, I like the way we have celebratory times, and then our days of hard work and routine--those dedicated days make the holidays all the more cheerful.
What will the routine include?
Time to commit to our current goals and pursuits
If you make your goals and pursuits part of your daily routine, you are much more likely to achieve those goals. Also matching your best-energy times of the day with the most difficult pursuits is a win-win combination.
Healthy, mostly plant-based diet
We're updating our eating habits and working to create delicious and nutritious mostly plant-based meals to contribute to good health and quality living.
Household chores and updates
We've come to appreciate our home so much during this pandemic, and we'll continue to update spaces to keep the home warm and welcoming. Simple updates like cleaning, organizing, and painting make a big difference.
Gardening
We still haven't started our long planned for indoor herb garden, and soon we'll be planting seeds for our outdoor spring, summer, and fall garden.
Planning
Typically we spend the cold, winter months planning for fun, outdoor summer adventures. Since we're saving up for a fall wedding weekend of fun and we don't know what the roll-out of the vaccine will be like, we'll put most vacaion planning on hold for now--it will be a more spontaneous, low key summer this year.
Loved ones
Regular attention to loved ones via intimate dinners, phone conversations, special day acknowledgements, hikes outdoors and more will likely light up the months ahead.
We love the busy home with our loved ones over the holiday, and we also love our quieter, more routine home too. Onward.
