The pandemic has catapulted all of us into new worlds, and those new worlds have been challenging, eye-opening, and in some ways positive.
Challenging
We've all faced challenges during the pandemic. Some have faced greater challenges than others. Those who lost loved ones or faced grave illness, job loss, and other economic struggles have been challenged the most. Those also positioned in the middle of pandemic needs have faced great challenges as they care for the sick, teach school, and manage the complexity of children learning at home while keeping up with their own work expectations. All of us have faced the challenge of the pandemic limitations and threats. No one has enjoyed the high degree of physical distancing necessary or the worry that you will contract the illness.
Eye-Opening
We've learned a lot during this time. We've learned how to be more creative with our time to make the most of the limitations. We've learned a lot about pandemics and the medicine that goes with that, our tech skills have grown, and we've learned about how multiple government agencies work during tough times like these.
Positives
Despite the negatives, there have been positives too.
- There's been more time for intimate gatherings and events with close friends and family members--this has been a treat especially for people like me who generally at large family gatherings.
- Teachers and students who didn't enjoy the benefits of one-to-one computers are loving that addition to their teaching repertoire.
- Educators have made their venues much more tech savvy, and students have learned a lot of great tech skills.
- Children have had more time for play which is wonderful, and there has been more time for families because so many of the activities and events that challenged family time were cancelled.
- More people are getting outdoors and enjoying nature, and more people are cooking at home and preparing healthy meals.
- I'm guessing that some public health and safety metrics like car safety stats may have improved too.
