Every week has its distractions

Every week has its distractions. Yet, as one writer taught me years ago, the distractions are often the most important work we engage in, so it's good to embrace those events and take them seriously.

This week's distraction was getting appointments for my parents to be vaccinated. As with most similar events, I did the research and engaged in the pursuit for hours until I was successful. There's still more to do, but at least the first step is complete.

Now I can get back to the typical routine and tasks at hand including tax prep, some service work, and home chores--a relatively light load compared to the ultra-busy teaching and parenting days of the last 34 years.

The more we simplify our schedules and home, the more prepared we are for the weekly distractions that occur. I love this ability to respond because we have the time and place to do that. Onward.
