Late start

An early morning thought led to research to conversation to more thoughts, and now I'm a couple hours late for an expected 7 a.m. event. So as I consider this late start, I'm left to rework the morning schedule. What's on the agenda. Shopping, cleaning, cooking, more shopping, more cooking, and some time to enjoy a good show. It's a busy day of home-related tasks and visits.

What meaning does this day hold?

My morning thoughts left me with a research project that I'm looking forward to. I'm going to do an in-depth study of the districts of a few pro-Trump, pro-insurrection House of Representatives' members. I can't believe that people voted in these seemingly violence-loving reps so I want to know more. My research will answer the following questions:

  • What are the demographics of their districts?
  • What is the history of their districts?
  • What story do the representatives' biographies tell?
  • Who donates to their campaigns? Who recruited them to run? What do they believe in?
  • What are the dreams and wishes of their constitutents?
  • What opportunities and promise do their districts hold?
  • What are these representatives doing to uplift lives in their districts?
  • Are they using and abusing their constituents for their own gain?
I hold the belief that most people are good and want similar good for one another. Perhaps my research will prove me wrong. I also believe that when people vote for errant candidates, they do that because they don't know enough about the candidates. Perhaps I'm wrong with this too, but I want to know more. I want to understand how people can elect officials that seem to be dangerous and destructive. Mandela said, "Know your enemies," and this will be my attempt to do that.

The rest of the day leaves me to try to serve a number of loved ones well--I want to cook a few really good meals, clean some spaces to make them more welcoming, and help out in other ways that I can. I truly love to help others if and when I can, so I will enjoy this work.

It's been a late start, but a start that has me thinking about some interesting research and activity ahead. Onward.
