We all have to take personal responsibilty for our actions, and we have to focus on this with strength during these tough times of Trump terror, a raging pandemic, and the dark winter days. How are we acting to uplift one another and spread the good, and how are we acting that works against the good possible?
Unusually weary by the Trump teams' terrorizing, frightening behavior and threats as well as the pandemic limitations and results, I set about my usual list of jobs yesterday, but rather than happily completing the work, I found myself fighting against lethargy, fear, anger, and worry--clearly, I've been terrorized by Trump's lack of ethics and his hateful, deadly, irresponsible, costly behaviors. I know that with every manipulative act that he, his family members, and cronies have done, is a lost opportunity for betterment in the United States, the kind of betterment that truly uplifts us. Also, I watched the House debate about impeachment, and while I was so excited to see such a diverse group of freedom-loving, just politicians speak up for impeachment, it was hurtful to hear the words of those that supported the deadly insurrection and the perpetrators that caused the carnage and obstruction of justice.
Yet, no matter how terrorizing others can be, each of us has a personal responsibilty to do our part to make better, and yesterday as I fought to do what was right, I failed with respect to my attitude--I was clearly frustrated, angry, and worried by the Trump terror and raging pandemic. Life is hard enough, and when your leaders are making it more difficult, that can easily make your frustrated and angry. So I was cranky, short-tempered, and curt, rather than positive, patient, and caring.
How do we navigate the next five days of Trump terror--what can we do to take personal responsibility and act with grace, positivity, and promise during these days. Here's my roadmap.
- Make a commitment to not take out the Trump terror and pandemic worries on those around you. Instead plan to use time and energy to spread the love, care, and happiness possible.
- Know that this terror does suck energy from you--get some extra rest and relaxation.
- Get outdoors--walk, be in nature, and move.
- Find positive entertainment that takes you away from the news including good books, great films, game playing, and music.
- Know that this trump terror problem will take time to counter--investigations, prosecutions, and convictions will take lots of time, and it is important to do it well with the focus on making sure this doesn't happen again anytime soon.
