When you consider your allegiance, contribution, and support, how do you decide who deserves your time, money, and energy?
I believe this decisions begins with your values--what do you value?
For me, these are my values:
- honesty
- love
- best possible living
- protection of our natural resources, lands, air, water
- simplicty
- natural- and human-created beauty
- win-win problem solving
- health
Then you have to consider how you can support those values via your allegiance, contribution, and support beginning with those closest to you.
- How do you support your loved ones--what do you do to help them in ways that also forward your values?
- Who do you align yourself with in ways that match and forward your values?
- How do you substantiate your words, beliefs, values with action?
For family, I'm honest and supportive in ways that help my children to live good lives and contribute too. As for allegiance, currently I ally with and support some organizations that support my values. And as far as substantiating my words, I'm currently in what I would call a learning phase as I transition from a steady diet of teaching to new worlds of contribution and good work. I have a lot to learn right now.
To consider your allegiance, contribution, and support, you have to also consider what and whom you will not ally with, contribute to, or support. I do not ally with those that spread misinformation, abuse their power, spread lude and disrepectful information, or work against the health and welfare of others.
It is important to stop and consider your allegiance, contribution, and support regularly, and it is similarly important to line that up with your values, time, resources, and energy. Onward.
