When was the last time you really stopped to think about clothes. I know that as a woman, clothes have been a point of struggle for me most of my life. Finding the right clothes, clothes that are comfortable, make me feel good, and are just right for the weather has not been easy.
As a child, clothes rarely fit me well or felt good. Many clothes were made out of plasticky-like material that itched and felt uncomfortable. And, the clothes rarely fit my body well--they bunched, tugged, slipped up, and fell down. I rarely had a pair of socks that didn't slip down to my ankles.
In high school, I had to wear an itchy uniform that also didn't fit well or look good. I hated that uniform, and then in college I tried out all kinds of different styles and clothes. Sometimes I found clothes that were just right, and often I bought and tried out clothes that were uncomfortable and short lived in my closet.
Only in recent years have I found women's clothes to be more diverse and comfortable. One reason I like Amazon is that I've been able to find the clothes I like with greater ease--I'm finally recognizing the fabrics and styles that I like best--clothes that feel good when I wear them, and clothes that fit my lifestyle better.
What's true for you? Have you always had clothes that felt good, fit right, and looked the way you wanted those clothes to look? Have you found the fabrics you like and quality you desire? Do you have the clothes you need for the weather you face?
Today, as part of my big house clean-up, I'll tackle the clothes collection. What pieces will I keep, and what will I give away? What kinds of clothes have lasting value and what clothes were a waste of money? What clothes do I wear the most simply because I like the way those clothes feel, and because those are clothes that generate the most energy in me when it comes to doing the work I love to do and want to do?
Clothes, clothes, clothes--what role do clothes play in your life?
