Contemplate the worst case scenario

Often contemplating the worst case scenario helps you to make a good decision and see situations with greater clarity. For example, recently I was in the midst of a less than ideal situation. I contemplated the worst case scenario, and that put the situation in perspective as the worst case scenario was not that bad or different than what was happening at the moment. That actually brought me ease with regard to the situation.

When you use this perspective, you think, What's the worse thing that could happen? Then you work from there.

For example, when working with my children on their college application process, I did consider the worse case scenario, and frankly that brought good perspective as we were always far from that situation. Sometimes, the worst-case-scenario perspective leads you to updates and changes in plans that quickly makes your choices safer and better too.

And just like the worst-case-scenario perspective, you want to also visualize the best-case-scenario too. If you think about those bookend perspectives, then you can work towards a positive, doable solution to almost any problem. Onward.
