Dear Senators:

Dear Senators Who Wish to Aquit Trump,

I write to you as an American woman who desires life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for every American no matter their religion, race, gender, culture, geography, interests, health, or lifestyle. I am one that believes it is possible for a huge country like ours to work for the best possible lives for every one of us, and that is why I feel so strongly that to convict Donald Trump in this impeachment trial is the only right course of action. The evidence clearly demonstrates that Donald Trump, while President of the United States, clearly abused his power and was unfaithful to his Presidential Oath of Office when he staged and incited a deadly insurrection at our nation's Capitol, an insurrection that resulted in American death, injury, and terror, costly vandalism and looting, and obstruction of justice by blocking the certification of the electoral college vote and win for Joe Biden.

I am wondering why you would not convict Trump given the mountain of incriminating evidence that exists. Right before our eyes, Trump staged and incited the deadly insurrection to get his way without care for the safety of American lives, the protection of our public spaces, and fidelity to justice. And, when the insurrection took place, he sat back for hours and abdicated his responsibility by not acting for the common defence as his oath of office told him to do, but instead letting the carnage continue and congratulating the insurgents afterwards with words of celebration, love, and praise.

Like most Americans I am wondering why you would support Trump at this time--why would you acquit a guilty elected official who abused his power by staging and inciting the fourth deadliest terror event during his term?

Is it White Supremacy?

Do you support Trump because you are a White supremacist who gives a free pass to Whites who cause terror and death to innocents? Is that why you will not convict Trump? I noticed that most of you who at this time say they will not convict Trump are White males, and many are from former Confederate, slave-owning states. Do you still harbor racist sentiments that make it impossible for you to convict a White male like Trump?

Is it complicity?

Did you act with Trump to support, plan, stage, incite, and/or carry out the deadly insurrection? Did you recruit angry, loyal, violent Trump supporters to come to D.C. that day to fight? Did you help craft and spread the Stop-the-Steal marketing campaign of misinformation and lies? Did you finalize the details at The White House on January 5th? Did you help the perpetrators to know the layout of the Capitol? Did you speak at The Elipse? Did you obstruct the certification process with misinformation and lies? Are you guilty like Trump of inciting and staging a deadly insurrection? Did you too abuse your power and act with infidelity to your oath of office?

Is it fear?

Did you side with Trump by abusing your power and acting with infidelity to your oath of office, and do you fear retribution from Trump because of that if you vote against him? Are you fearful of the dangerous cronies here and abroad that Trump appears to align himself with, and what they might do to you and your family if you vote against Trump? After all, we know that most in power who have spoken out against Trump have received death threats. Has Trump drummed up some dirt about you that makes you fear siding against him--will he tell a story of your illicit affairs, money laundering, criminal activity, sordid sexual behavior or more? We have heard stories of these kinds of tactics related to Trump and his cronies, so it would not be surpising if some of you are facing similar threats. The bottom line is that the Trump team will share your dirt when it is advantageous for them--it's likely to come out at some time, so it's better that it come from you than them. Publicize the threats, hold them accountable, bring it to light--don't let Trumpian threats make you afraid to do what is right.

Is it ignorance?

Have you truly followed the case? Do you really know what's happening, or are you cowardly taking the path of least resistance?  Did you skip out on the trial, and not listen to the evidence yesterday?

Is it the party line?

Are you simply doing what others tell you to do--following the lead of the cronies around you rather than truly reflecting on and doing what is right and good.

Is it that you represent a Trumpian-territory and you are afraid of disappointing your constituents?

The truth is that Trump cares about few to no others, but himself and a few family members and cronies. He was more than willing to throw the loyal fans who fought for him under the bus right away. Over time, he has used and abused many to do his dirty work, and then lets them reap the repercussions which range from death, suicide, physical/psychological harm, imprisonmnet, large fines, and family dysfunction, divide, and danger. He doesn't care about your constituents and saw them as easy prey for his demented desires in life--your consitutents are probably beginning to see the truth of the matter now. You will do your consituents a favor if you vote against such an evil abuser like Trump.

Further, if your constituents are Trumpians because they are White supremacists, it's your job to educate them and work with them to show them that White supremacy is evil and wrong--there is room in the United States for all of us to succeed and live good lives no matter our skin shade, religion, economic class, geography, lifestyle, or interests. And frankly, when we create opportunities for everyone and show respect, we all profit.

Or are your consituents afraid--have they lost their jobs, pride, confidence, and ability to live good lives? If that's true, you have to let them know that Trumpian policies were dead ends that served only a few, and that there are many inclusive ways to work for betterment all over the United States--work with them, get creative, and rid our government of self-servers who are content to see low education levels, great poverty, lack of opportunity, pollution, and greed as the mainstays in their districts while they work for their own privilege, power, wealth, and pleasure like Trump.

Are you short sighted?

In the long run, humanity wins. If you look back over time, humane decisions ultimately become the mainstay. Sadly, this humanity often is born out of great struggle and inhumanity, but the truth is that humanity does win in the long run. Think of all those guys who stood tall on Confederate statues that have been knocked down--if you don't convict Trump, that's who you will be--a guy or gal that may stand tall for White supremacy, greed, abuse of power now, but later, history will clearly judge you as a person who made a wrong choice and an inhumane decision--a person who opened the flood gates to greater terrorism, obstruction of justice, and use of violence. Do you really want to be that person?

To do the right thing takes courage. I implore every senator to act courageously and vote to convict Trump who clearly abused his power as the 45th President of the United States. Trump had chance after chance to do the right thing, but instead he couldn't see past his own greed, racism, narcissm, and will to prop up his personal wealth, power, privilege, and pleasure. He will likely be one of the greatest losers of all time--a man who took a good country back, back, back rather than forward. I implore you to be on the right side of history and do what is right and good for the United States. Vote to convict Trump. And if you are reading this, and you are not a senator, please call your senators and ask them to do the right thing.

This map shows the number and location of senators who have said they will not vote to convict Trump. I hope they change their minds.

Is it fair for senators who didn't listen to the evidence to have a vote? What do you think?
