This is your life. . . .

Mom and Dad have enjoyed
an almost 70-year loving relationship.

I just spent the afternoon putting together a "This is your life" slideshow for my dad's birthday. As I chose a few photos amongst hundreds of pictures, I thought a lot about what's most important in life, what truly makes life meaningful. And, not surprisingly, I recongnized once again that life is made meaningful from the people we spend time with, the adventures we have, the efforts we invest in, and the celebrations we enjoy.

In looking at Dad's long life, it's clear to see that the love he received early on gave him a great start in life. Also, the good relationships he nurtured throughout his life brought his life joy, comfort, support, and happiness. Dad found adventures he enjoyed too, particularly adventures in the mountains, at the seashore, or in forests. He was proud of the good work he did too, and the hobbies he enjoyed such as playing hockey, bike riding, hiking, and body surfing.

So, as I think about the days ahead, I'll follow his lead by nurturing relationships, investing in good work, adventuring, and engaging in hobbies that bring me joy and satisfaction. Those are ingredients of good living. What more would you add.
