As I navigate a loved one's illness, I've tried on many different perspectives. Yesterday my loved one's spunk and will to get better prompted me to take on an adventure mindset. While this journey is not what my loved one my choose, it is, in some ways, quite an adventure including a new place, new people, and a fresh look at life.
What if we took that adventure perspective everytime we are catapulted into a new chapter of life? What if we realized that no matter the severity of the situation, there is something new to learn, encounter, and do. Due to the social constructs of society today, care facilities are an opportunity to travel the world via the experiences of caretakers from multiple regions of the globe. It's also a time to admire the amazing expertise of medical professionals and caretaking staff, and it's a time to challenge yourself to achieve new ways of being and seeing the world. Further, via those who are taking medical journeys, loved ones too are embarking on a new adventure of sorts as we adjust to the changes and the opportunities to support our friend or family member who is ill.
Although some may see the adventure perspective as a reach when it comes to illness, it is the perspective I choose to use today. Onward.
