What is your place in the matter?

With every situation we encounter, we should be mindful of our place in the matter. Recently I had a conversation with a loved one. I said that I didn't think it was my place to be involved in the matter we discussed. He disagreed and invited me to be apart of the situation.

The consideration of your place in a matter is not always clear cut. For example, as a retired educator, I have thoughts about pandemic-related school issues, but what is my place in the matter. I've decided that my place is to advocate for what I believe is healthy, safe, and educationally-positive for educators, students, and families.

When we are considering our place, we can consider what it is we can do, should do, and should also steer clear of. For example, with respect to a recent issues, I did a lot of research and that research helped me to know what my place in the situation was--I learned what I could realistically and positively do.

Knowing your place matters, and the willingness to revise that place when needed is also important. Onward.
