Builder

Essentially I'm a builder. I'm forever planning to build something new.

These new structures are rarely buildings, but instead new plans, arrangements, adventures, research projects, and more. I like quests, journeys, and travel.

That's one reason why it's difficult for me to work with people who generally stick to the status quo and resist seeing the multiple avenues available. For example when I look at any situation, I can typically see multiple varied ways to deal with what's happening. I actually love entertaining the options and thinking about the win-win decisions.

Recently a loved one faced a situation, and that loved one was much more apt to react rather than create. That was frustrating for me, but who am I to project my mindset on that person. Everyone lives life a bit differently than everyone else, and there's typically some goods and not-so-goods about everyone's attitude and ways of living life.

The challenge with being a builder like me is that sometimes I entertain and begin too many projects--my house if filled with projects-in-progress, and often my vision far exceeds my resources, energy, and focus. Further, it's difficult to good work on your own. When you work with others, you can bounce ideas off one another, benefit from each other's strengths, and shore up each other's challenges. Going it alone is rarely the best avenue with any endeavor, instead a mix of independence and collaboration tends to get the job done best.

So, with my latest challenge, I'll focus on being a good team member that builds when I can, and maintains the status quo when needed. For me, being a builder, makes life interesting, so I'll continue that path as my mainstay whenever possible. Onward.
