So many of us are caretakers. In some cases, the structures are there to make the tasks natural, easy, and well supported, and in other cases, it's not so easy particuarly if those you are caring for don't fit into neat, common patterns.
As I think of my caretaker roles, I'm thinking about what the priorities are.
First, basic needs. Those we care for deserve their basic needs of loving homes, good health care, nutrition, healthy recreation, and care.
And, there's worth--everyone wants to feel worthwhile, and it is important to make sure that people have roles in life that give them that sense of worth, value, and confidence.
A bit of laughter and a good sense of humor goes a long way as does honesty and good cheer.
Life's not perfect for any of us, but we have the great potential to make it very good for one another if we we put our hearts and minds into it. Onward.
