Everything we do makes us who we are--every word, action, decision, and reaction matters. That can seem like a heavy burden and too purposeful leaving life devoid of wonderful serendipity and surprise, but in truth, it's good to mind your actions, words, reactions, and decisions.
How can we do that?
When in doubt, take a break. If you don't know exactly what to do, give yourself time to consider your action. Too often we rush to act, and most often, it's not necessary to react right away.
Take time to focus on what's most important to you--know your top ten list of values, vision, hopes, and dreams--know where you are headed in life. Daily reflection and regular research helps you to know who you are and what you desire well.
Surround yourself with good people, good times, and good resources. What you expose yourself to is likely what you'll become. So for the most part, avoid the negativity that exists--stay clear of negative people, activities, and events. Choose the best of what life has to offer.
Reach out for support, advice, consult, and care when needed. None of us can live this life completely alone. We need each other's experiences, wisdom, insights, and capacity to live our best lives. For each of us, this camaraderie will differ in depth, quantity, and strength, but few to none of us can live completely without others. Choose who you will travel this life journey with carefully, and as you journey with others, give as much as you get or more.
Seek the wisdom of those you admire and those who have lived extraordinary lives--read their words, follow their example, and let them direct your good living.
Every action in our lives matter, and the better we live our lives, make decisions, and connect with others, the better we can expect our lives to be. Onward.
