Investing in a creativity studio

I'm in the midst of investing in my creativity studio--this studio is situated in a corner of my family room and includes a desk, a printer, a few other tech devices, and collections of paper, photos, pens, and other creativity materials.

What will I create?

To begin with, I'll create a few photo books for family members who are celebrating significant life events--I look forward to scanning photos, writing text, and organizing the information in meaningful, thematic ways.

I will also begin scanning and organizing significant family photos that tell the story of our family history. I'll continue to work at publishing that information in ways that the rest of the family can enjoy and share as they choose.

I'll also begin to organize my illustration collection and add to that with multimedia illustrations and may get back to writing more too and potentially illustrating, writing, and publishing a few short books. I have a fair number of stories waiting for edits and potential publishing. Time will tell.

Why create a creativity studio

As an educator, I believe that every learner should have their own creativity studio--a place to create and share their learning in meaningful ways. Every classroom should be a creativity studio where children work together to create and publish meaningful learning. The more we share what we know in positive ways, the better we will all be. To give students a creativity studio mindset and experience from an early age will help them to be prepared for their lives ahead in any discipline.

It will be interesting to see where this effort goes in the days, months, and years to come. For now, however, I'm at the initial stage.
