There was a lot to do yesterday. I worried about that too-tight to-do list, but powered through as I planned to, and as I hoped for and expected, the aftermath was nothing but positive. I was so tired that I fell quickly to sleep right after dinner, then awoke in the middle of the night to put closure on the very busy, but productive day.
Good forethought and afterthought helps to empower the work that we do in any sphere. I had to coach myself ahead for the tremendously busy and somewhat worrisome tasks of the day, and now after the day, I want to think about what worked and what's ahead.
A good plan
I had a good plan in place for the day's activities. While a good plan doesn't always work, it's definitely a step in the right direction.
Good food and drinks
To stay powered up for a very busy day, it's great to have access to healthy, good food and drinks. I made that part of the plan and that kept everyone happy and productive.
Do what you can
By the end of the day, we had accomplished a lot, but not everything on the list. Yet, with energy and patience beginning to dwindle, we called it quits and saved a few tasks for another day. Knowing when to quit helps you to avoid mistakes and be reasonable with yourself.
Just do it
There were a few tough somewhat tough decisions during the day. As I considered the solutions, I thought to myself how important is this decision and what if I made a mistake. In most cases, that consideration led me to just make a decision knowing that in each case, a potential wrong choice would have little challenging effect. Now I'm relieved that I made those decisions as it's work done, and we can move on.
Next steps
I've got a number of follow-up steps to complete in the days ahead, and there will be unexpected twists and turns with regard to this effort as it's an unpredictable situation, and a situation I have not traveled with such intimacy and responsibility before. I have to leave room for that and have a positive attitude too in this regard. Now it's time to get back to sleep. Onward.
