As you plan your days, what will serve you well today and tomorrow too. With multiple life changes happening to many in my life, I'm thinking about the choices we make to best support our lives today and tomorrow--what do we want, what can we do?
Healthy lifestyle and welcoming environment
Whether it is today or tomorrow, a healthy lifestyle and welcoming environment will serve you well. For starters, a welcoming home is a clean, streamlined home--a place without a lot of unnecessary items, rundown spaces, and clutter. Also, a welcoming home generally works well with good windows, heating systems, electricity, and needed appliances and utilities. In a welcoming home, the yard is neatly landscaped too.
Cabinets and refrigerators with healthy food choices, time to get outside and walk, and comfortable places to rest will set the stage for a healthy lifestyle. It's important that your homes lends itself to socialization too--you want a place that people enjoy visiting and that's easy to ready for guests.
Independence
Living responsibly provides the opportunity to live with greater independence as you age--if you don't squander your health or resources, you'll likely be able to live a better life as you age.
Enjoy life
Good living is a balance of responsibility and good fun too. To be "all work and no play" makes you dull at any stage--you have to enjoy life too, and as my mom often said, "Enjoy the stage you're in" by maximizing he opportunity that stage allows.
For example, when our children were young, they were the perfect age for all kinds of outdoor family adventures, but now as young adults, meet-ups at special places now and then throughout the year is a perfect way to get together and have fun. As I think of spending time with my older parents, I'm thinking about the good times their stage in live supports, times such as visits with relatives, watching good shows or sports games, taking walks out in nature, famiy gatherings in the back yard, and sharing delicious meals.
I do believe that we can live well today while also prepping the stage for good long term living too. I'll be thinking about this today as I support a few family members.
