On your own

I'm a big fan of teamwork. I love how a great team motivates each other to do good work. It's really lonely to have to do a job on your own with no caring team members who work with you, and it's even more frustrating when the team members work against you with little communication, follow-through, or collective problem solving.

As I think of situations past when there was little teamwork, I remember how frustrating those situations were. A long time ago I was in a situation where this happened. It seemed like everyone on the greater team had goals and ambitions totally different from what I thought was valuable or important. The crowd was going in one direction and I was headed in the other direction. I felt very lonely and angry at the situation. Now, long past, that situation, I realize that I could have worked more for common ground, and my eventual efforts to enlist new team members that shared my vision and pursuit was a positive move.

So as I experience a somewhat "on my own" situation now, I have to coach myself to find some common ground and I also have to seek new team members who share my vision in the situation. This lonely place is difficult.

So where does the common ground exist. The overall visiion is shared by the entire team--that's good. The way to get there is not shared, so that's challenging. I'll think more on common ground and new team members who can be helpful. Onward.
