As part of my family history project, I've been sharing the good times past and present with my extended family members. One way that I've been sharing those good times is by uploading movies from the past. As family members look at these old movies of weddings, adventures, and get togethers of all kinds, everyone notices something different. In many ways, we are bringing back to life our family members from times when they were younger or times when they lived amongst us. In so many ways, the personalities of each family member shine through and that brings a smile to my face.
The video I share in this post is a clip from one of our most memorable childhood adventures which was a trip to Baxter State Park in 1970. My dad researched the trip during his lunch hour at the Worcester Public Library. He also planned the adventure by talking to friends and customers who were outdoor enthusiasts, reading books and articles, and studying maps. His dedicated research led to many wonderful family adventures that introduced us to new environments. I am so grateful for this and seek to replicate his example with my family.
We were a family of simple means who enjoy many extraordinary adventures in public spaces throughout our childhood. This gave us a rich childhood, many, many wonderful memories, and great mentoring when it comes to nurturing our own families. It is important that we share the good times like this in life because when we do we give others potential paths to good living that they may want to replicate. Onward.
