The team fell apart. Why? What happened?
Clearly communication was somewhat weak. People weren't on the same page with regard to goals and needs. There were various opinions about what a good schedule and routine looked like. Worry, frustration, impatience, exasperation, and even some anger seeped into the organization.
Is the situation repairable?
What can I do?
At times, teams do fall apart. We hear stories about this related to sports all the time. There's lots of talk and action focused on repair when this happens.
As a I thought about the teamwork that's fragile in my midst this morning, I thought about some new ways that I might foster and contribute to team including concise communication, letting go of the less important issues, and focusing on what I can do rather than what I can't do.
The situation is not ideal, and not exactly what I'd like it to be, but as in any team, what happens is not up to one person alone, but instead up to the entire team.
Thinking about worst case scenarios helps me to direct myself in a more positive way--I want to avoid those worst case scenarios, and letting go of perfect in favor of good is another good direction.
So today I'll get back in there, so what I can, and see if I can help empower the team in positive ways. Onward.
