In tough situations, I often ask myself the question, What is the worst thing that can happen? This question often leads my follow-up actions and responses. In a situation I'm dealing with now, the worst thing that could happen is that people will be met with very uncomfortable, unpleasant living. I don't want that to happen. I want to do what I can to allow people to live with comfort, care, and happiness.
What can I do to support that?
Care with language
Too much language can exhaust, confuse, and even anger people. I've got to focus my words, say less, and let actions speak. How we use language is an important consideration in every endeavor--the words we choose, our tone, the quantity of words, volume, and what the words mean all convey the message.
Time on task
Actions speak. As a dreamer, I always have to be careful that my dreams don't take the place of real action. Dreams can definitely better the work we do, but dreams should not replace the time on task and good work we do to make positive change and impact.
Self care
Dreamers like me can focus so heavily on the dream that we forget about self care. Many of us are not pragmatists, so we have to help ourselves to do what we need to do to care for ourselves.
Happy and bright
Too much focus on the downside of situations can obstruct the joy and happiness possible. All work and no play makes anyone dull--find the joy, the bright spots, the humor, the love, and the peace in situations as that brightens everyone's day.
Guide your efforts with a positive pattern and plan
Good plans and patterns put us on automatic when it comes to good work. Take the time you need to think through the situation and then create a positive plan and pattern to follow. Revise the pattern and plan regularly to make sure it is working the way you need it to work.
Get some perspective
No matter what pursuits you are invested in, you need to remove yourself from the hard work now and then to get some perspective.
Do your best and be satisfied
Dreamers see limitless possibilities and we have to caution ourselves to be satisfied with our best efforts and performance. No one is super human.
