Where will I put my political time and dollars?

Every politician is asking for money. I wish I was rich and could give every politician I believe in a good donation, but I'm not rich, and like many Americans I have some significant bills to pay. Yet, a few years ago, I wasn't as active politically, and then I had to suffer for four years with an election win for Donald Trump and a Republican majority senate who worked and voted worked against my rights, beliefs, and opportunity for all in the United States. That was a wake-up call for me--I knew that I had to get politically active if I wanted to help my country move in a positive, humane direction, a direction that enriched lives, protected our natural resources, and creatively worked for betterment across the country and the globe.

Thankfully, I wasn't alone, many, many, many Americans worked tirelessly with time and money to support respectful, bright, hard working, experienced candidates throughout the country. Many of these candidates won their elections, and this has made significant progress. The greatest evidence of this good work is the fact that President Biden is working against the coronavirus--vaccines are happening at a rapid rate, and we are moving past this pandemic. Yet, Trumpian Republicans and other fans continue to fight this progress with their unwillingness still to take the science seriously--they continue to work against us rather than for us.

I don't want another four years of Trump-like danger, destruction, hate, waste, and disrespect. I'm still burdened by the terrorists and traitors in Congress that happily take their $174,000 a year and then use their time to work against the rights, values, and good living for all in the United States. While I'd rather spend my extra dollars on a few good vacations, I know that I have to spend some money and some time contributing to a better USA--I have to support the good people out there who want to lead and make better for all of us.

Who will I support?

Since I budget with others in my family, we'll have to sit down and figure out who we are going to work for in the coming months and how we will make this work a regular part of our lives. It takes time and it takes money to win an election, and for most Americans this time and money comes from a busy schedule on budgets.

Massachusetts Governor

It's clear that there may be a tough political battle for Governor in Massachusetts just around the corner. If you read between the lines, that battle has already started. This will be a tough choice for me because I suspect that I'll like more than one person that will run for this office. So for me, this election won't be about likeability, but instead about our state's future--what do I want for Massachusetts? I want an energized governor who will work for good living for all, and that good living will include environmental protections, fair pay, just work conditions, best-ever public schools, quality accessible health care, equal rights, good management, and healthy recreation. In the best of circumstances, I wish Governor Baker would step down after this term and take on another big role--he's a talented leader who has done a good job for two terms. I'd like to see him move on and let a new person serve. To me, that would be ideal especially if the new Governor was a strong, bright, energized, visionary like Maura Healey.

Congress

Thank goodness that Ossoff and Warnock won in Georgia. Now, however, in light of their win, Trumpian traitors and terrorists are working everywhere to limit voters' rights in order to win elections. This means that hard working everyday people will have a more difficult time getting to the polls to elect the kind of leaders that work for the common good. I need to do some research to find out who needs my support across the country so that we can rid Congress of self-serving, Trumpian-like leaders--leaders like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Ted Cruz, Matt Gaetz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and more who work to elevate their weath and privilege while leaving most Americans out of the American dream. These are lazy, self-serving, hateful leaders who prop up White privilege and their personal bank accounts instead of doing their jobs. We must vote them out.

Local elections

I have to get more active in my local community to learn about elections and elected leaders. As a busy teacher, I was not as active, but it's time for that to change. I have some work to do in this regard.

None of us can complain about our political leaders if we don't do our part to research who they are, what they do, and how we can best support the kind of hard working, experienced, bright people who will lead with good living for all as their mission. Onward.
